Infant Mortality.
. During 1953 the deaths of 33 infants under 1 year of age were
registered as belonging to Battersea. The total number of live births
registered during the year was 1,778 giving an infant mortality rate
18.56 per 1,000 live births as compared with 17.56 in 1952 and
27.57 in 1951.
The infant mortality rates in the County of London and in England
and Wales during 1953 were 24.8 and 26.8, respectively.
