London County Council Tuberculosis Scheme.
In November the Council considered a draft forwarded by
the London County Council of a revised scheme drawn up by them
for the treatment of tuberculosis in London, and decided to make
no observations thereon.
Public Health (Prevention of Tuberculosis) Regulations, 1925.
No action was found necessary under the provisions of these
Regulations during 1934.
Revision of Notification Register.
In accordance with the suggestion of the Ministry of Health
the Tuberculosis Notification register is periodically revised, and
during 1934 the names of 97 patients were removed from the register
as compared with 42 in 1933.
The County of London (Tuberculosis) Regulations, 1930.
Seven children were, by arrangement with the Invalid Children's
Aid Association, boarded out under the scheme of the London
County Council under the above Regulations.
In June the County Council decided that for the future no
charge should be made to parents or guardians for this service.
TUBERCULOSIS DISPENSARY.
The work of the Tuberculosis Dispensary was carried on with
the usual routine during 1934.
The annual contribution made by the London County Council
towards the cost of the dispensary treatment of tuberculosis
amounts to £1,037.
The staff engaged on Tuberculosis work at the Dispensary
will be found on pages 3 and 4.
The Dispensary is affiliated to St. Thomas's Hospital, and
cases presenting special difficulties in diagnosis are referred to that
institution for X-ray examination.
The dispensary treatment of school children is carried on in
close co-operation with the school medical service, and Springwell
House Open Air School on Clapham Common North Side, has, in
this connection, carried on useful work during the year.
The Tuberculosis Medical Officer and one of the tuberculosis
nurses are employed part-time in the medical inspection of children
attending the school.
