During the year 123 sessions for Welfare patients were held,
the number of patients on the roll at the end of the year being 12.
The total attendances numbered 2,228, the average number per
session being 18.1. A medical officer attended six of the sessions
and saw 42 of the patients.

The number of persons who received treatment during the year(excluding tuberculous children) was 72, whose ages were as follows:—

Treatment in these cases was by the mercury vapour lamps.
Arrangements are made for massage treatment of children
attending the light treatment centre immediately after their
treatment by light.
Particulars relating to tuberculous patients treated at the
Clinic during the year will be found on page 63.
Infant Life Protection.
The provisions of the Children and Young Persons Acts, 1908
and 1932, relating to Infant Life Protection have since the 1st April,
1933, been administered by the Council.
Foster mothers and the children in their care were visited
throughout the year by the Health Visiting staff, who have been
appointed by the Council as Infant Life Protection visitors. The
number of visits paid by them in 1934 to foster mothers and children
was 1584.
At the end of 1933 there were 64 Battersea foster mothers
on the register, having in their care 89 nurse children. At the end
of 1934 there were 70 foster mothers with 102 nurse children, an
increase of 6 foster mothers during the year. In addition there were
on the register 44 foster mothers who had no children in their charge.
Forty notices of intention to receive nurse children were
received during the year from foster mothers not previously registered,
and 18 names were removed from the register. There was
thus an increase of 22 mothers on the register, but of these a number
had no children in their care at 31st December.
