Examinations under anæsthesia—14.
Indications.—For version—13 (successful, 10; failed, 3).

Cæsarean Sections—5.
Results.—Mothers and Babies—all good.
Remarks.—There has been some increase in the numbers of
albuminurias, for which it is impossible to suggest a reason. The
number of these cases requiring in-patient treatment has, of course,
risen proportionately. No cases of albuminuria are recommended
admission unless treatment as out-patients has been tried, without
relief, or unless the case when first seen is sufficiently serious to
make delay in admission unjustifiable. With the rise in the number
of albuminurias admitted, there has come a rise in the inductions.
The apparent large rise in this number is, however, accounted for
by the fact that this year, in getting out the numbers, it has been
found impossible to separate the cases given drugs with the definite
intention of inducing premature labour—fairly few in number—
from those given one or more doses of castor oil and quinine with
the intention of stimulating labour which has already started—a
large number.
