Deaths of Illegitimate Infants.
The death-rate amongst illegitimate children during 1932 was
81.4 per 1,000 births, as compared with 83.3 in 1931, 161.3 in
1930, 98.9 in 1929, and 73.2 in 1928. The corresponding deathrate
of legitimate children in 1932 was 56.9, the ratio of the mortality
rate of illegitimate infants to that of legitimate being 1.43 to 1.
Notification of Births Act.
During 1932 the number of notifications of live births received
was 2,200. The corrected number of births registered during the
year in Battersea was 2,319. The proportion of notified to registered
births was, therefore, 94.9 per cent.
There were 267 living and 10 still-births of Battersea children
born outside the Borough notified from the districts in which these
births occurred.
