During the year the Council on the recommendation of the
Maternity and Child Welfare and Health Committees decided to
establish a clinic for light treatment in connection with their
Maternity and Child Welfare and Tuberculosis schemes.
It is expected that this new Centre will be opened at Southlands
during 1929.
Nursing Homes.
Representations were made by the Borough Council to the
London County Council during the year as to the desirability of
the delegation by the County Council of the powers conferred upon
them by the Nursing Homes (Registration) Act, 1927, which came
into force on the 1st July, 1928. The County Council, however,
stated that they did not at present consider it advisable to delegate
this portion of the Health Services administered by them pending
consideration of the delegation of certain powers to the Borough
Councils, which may arise in future.
