Illegitimate Infant Deaths.
The death-rate amongst illegitimate children during 1928 was
73.2 per 1,000 births, as compared with 89.9 per 1,000 births in
1927, 162.2 in 1926, 113.2 in 1925, 148-1 in 1924 and 130.4
in 1923. The corresponding death rate of legitimate children in
1928 was 63.7, the ratio of the mortality-rate of illegitimate
infants to that of legitimate being 1.15 to 1.
