Fourteen new male outworkers' premises (not previously
registered) were registered during the year, and 17 were removed
from the register. I
There were 106 inspections made of male outworkers' premises
during 1928, and it was found necessary to serve notices under the
Public Health (London) Act, 1891, in 2 cases to remedy sanitary
defects found on inspection, viz. :—Defective w.c. ; defective roof.
No case of infectious disease was notified during 1928 from
premises occupied by male outworkers.
Female.
The following is a list of the female outworkers registered in the Borough, together with the trades and the number of persons employed:—

The number of new female outworkers' premises (not previously registered) registered during the year was 83, and there
were 72 removed from the register.
Inspections of female outworkers' premises were made by
the woman workshops' inspector (Miss Round) to the number of
418. It was found necessary in 4 cases to serve notices under the
Public Health (London) Act, 1891, to remedy defects. Four
cases of infectious disease, viz.: diphtheria 1, erysipelas 1, scarlet
fever 2, were notified from female outworkers' premises. Such
precautionary measures as were necessary were taken to prevent
spread of infection in these cases.
