The deaths from tuberculosis were 10.2 per cent. of the
total deaths. The death-rate from phthisis (the most common
form of tubercular disease) was 103 in 1920.
There were 498 cases of tuberculosis notified in Battersea
during 1920.
The number of notifications received, the number of deaths, and the death-rate from all forms of tuberculosis in each year since 1909 are shown in the following table:—

During 1920 1,985 visits to homes where cases of
tuberculosis had been notified were made by the Council's
Sanitary and Health Visiting Staff, and 180 inspections were
made by the Council's sanitary inspectors.
The death-rate from tuberculosis is the lowest recorded
during the past twenty years; the notifications in 1920 were also
below the average for the previous ten years.
The death-rates per 100,000 of the population from tuberculosis during the past twenty years are given in quinquennial averages in the following table:—
