STAFF MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS
For some years candidates have not been required to undergo a full medical
examination before engagement but to complete a comprehensive health questionnaire.
Only where there is an element of doubt is the applicant medically examined.
Number of Questionnaires received 578
Number referred for medical examination 64
Number failing to pass 10
Number referred for further opinion 23
Number required to be re-examined within 12 months 10
In addition, five members of the staff who had been on prolonged sick leave were
referred for my opinion as to their suitability to continue to be employed on their existing
duties. Ten medical examinations were carried out at the request of other local authorities.
