With regard to the Junior Training Centre, formal educational
methods continue to be used and at each level suitable children are
being taught to read and write. Good progress is being maintained
throughout the whole range of activities carried out at this centre.
Adaptations to the premises were completed on the 1st December, to
provide for a Special Care Unit. This Unit is designed to accommodate
daily 12 severely sub-normal children with multiple handicaps who
because of the nature of their disabilities require intensive care,
supervision and training. The provision of an establishment of this
nature within the borough meets a need which has long been recognised,
Hotting Hill Neighbourhood Service
The liaison with this voluntary organisation continued throughout
the year under review and has been of value in the inter-change
of information between the organisation and the appropriate departments
of the Council.
