GRANTS FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OR CONVERSION OF PRIVATE DWELLINGS
Standard Grants
Twenty-two applications for standard grants were approved by the
Council during 1970, compared with four applications for the previous
year.
Improvement (Discretionary) Grants
There was a considerable, but expected, increase in applications
for discretionary grants received during the year, and the actual amount
of grant approved by the Council was greater than the combined total for
the previous eighteen years.
The following is a summary of the number of discretionary grants
dealt with during 1970, together with a graph showing comparative figures
since the present borough was formed in 1965 -
