In addition to these domiciliary cases, the midwives have attended
planned and unplanned discharges whose numbers have increased from 184
to 204 during 1969. They have also attended 40 mothers in the General
Practitioner Unit at St. Mary Abbots Hospital. These are mothers who
are medically and obstetrically normal, but, who, for varying reasons,
cannot conveniently be delivered in their homes.
