DUTIES INVOLVED
Employment Agency Licences & Nurses Agency Licences
All applicants for these licences (and directors of companies applying
for licences) are interviewed by an inspector, the personal history of each
person is checked in respect of the previous ten years, and each application
is the subject of a report either to the Committee or to the Medical Officer
of Health. The investigations often include enquiries of the Criminal Records
Office, County Court Judgments Register, other local authorities, and also
involve liaison with other departments of the Council, e.g. Town Planning
Section.
Each licence so granted is delivered personally by an inspector and
copies of the byelaws governing the conduct of employment agencies handed
to the licensees. At this visit, the inspector advises on methods of
compliance with these byelaws. Subsequently, routine inspections are carried
out to ensure that these are complied with, and complaints are investigated
from time to time.
