professional courses and spent approximately a half of each week in the
department, over periods of four or five months. They worked with
clients under close supervision by their supervisors.
Trainee nurses and students from other disciplines were accepted
into the department for periods of a few days at a time, and were given
some insight into the Council's welfare services.
A number of other students from degree courses in universities
spent periods of about one month in the department, and visits of
observation to the Welfare Section's homes for the elderly and other
places of interest were arranged.
