accommodation for their horses, vehicles, barrows and goods.
At the Council's request, the London County Council promoted
legislation to enable them to provide and maintain storage and
stabling accommodation for use by street traders and other like persons
displaced by reason of the exercise of powers under the Housing Acts,
or by the acquisition of lands under any other enactment.
The erection of costermongers' stabling and storage
accommodation in Gadsden Mews and Lonsdale Mews (which haul been cleared
under Housing Act procedure) has been completed and the following places
have been provided :-

In addition, a refuse container shed, manure stores and
sanitary conveniences have been provided for the traders„
FACTORIES
Section 128 of the Factories Act, 1937, requires the Medical
Officer of Health to make an annual report in regard to the Council's
functions under the Act. The following tables contain a summary of
the inspections made and the defects found and remedied within the
borough during 1957
