cases needing continuous splinting being admitted to the baby hospital.
In the 2 to 5 age group, a considerable number of children have been discovered to have varying
degrees of knock knee and flat foot. These cases and any congenital deformities needing operative
or manipulative treatment are referred to the orthopaedic clinic at the Princess Louise Hospital.
From the South Kensington clinics, children needing orthopaedic treatment are referred to the
Princess Beatrice Hospital or to the Victoria Hospital for Children, Chelsea.

Borough Council Ante-natal and Post-natal Clinics.
In January, the borough council established an evening ante-natal clinic, and the sessions were
held at the baby clinic, No. 92, Tavistock Road, on Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m. In June, this clinic
was transferred to No. 28b, Archer Street. The evening clinic was inaugurated in order that mothers
who, owing to domestic or other reasons, could not attend the afternoon clinics at the welfare centres,
might have an opportunity of receiving proper ante-natal care. During the year, 47 sessions were
held ; 137 individual mothers attended and made 346 attendances. In addition, five post-natal
mothers were seen at these sessions and made six attendances.
On the 1st October, 1935, the council established a post-natal clinic at No. 28b, Archer Street
on Tuesday afternoons. It is hoped that in time all post-natal mothers attending the welfare
centres will attend this clinic in preference to being seen at the ante-natal clinics at the infant welfare
centres. From the 1st October to the 31st December, 12 sessions were held ; 36 individual mothers
attended and they made 38 attendances. Unless there is some complication needing special attention,
it is not necessary for post-natal mothers to attend more than once at the clinic.
Queen Charlotte's Hospital Ante-Natal Clinic.
Two ante-natal sessions are held weekly at the Queen Charlotte's Hospital ante-natal clinic
at No. 240, Ladbroke Grove. The total number of sessions held was 109. Five hundred and
ninety-six women attended, and of this number 500 were Kensington women.
Kensington Maternity Home.
The borough council maternity home of ten beds is conducted by the Queen Charlotte's Hospital
authorities at Invermead, No. 341, Goldhawk Road, Shepherd's Bush. Invermead, which is an
auxiliary hospital of Queen Charlotte's, is a large house situated in pleasant grounds and is well
adapted for the purposes of a maternity home. Arrangements have been made for women to be
admitted to the home to attend a special ante-natal clinic which is held at Invermead on Mondays
at 2 p.m.
