QUEEN CHARLOTTE'S HOSPITAL ANTE-NATAL CLINIC.
No. 176, LADBROKE GROVE.
This Clinic was opened by the Queen Charlotte's Hospital Authorities in June, 1921, at their
District Nurses' Home, which is situated a little north of the Ladbroke Grove Railway Station—a
point easily accessible to the majority of North Kensington mothers.
During the year, 991 individual expectant women attended the ante-natal sessions at this
institution and about 750 of these were Kensington cases. The total number of attendances of all
ante-natal cases was 2,449.
MIDWIFERY ARRANGEMENTS.
The number of home confinements attended by the staff of the North Kensington Queen
Charlotte's District Nurses' Home during 1923 was 950, and about 750 of these were
Kensington cases.
The Earl's Court Infant Welfare midwifery scheme, 'established at the beginning of 1922,
worked very successfully up to the Summer of 1923. In September the midwife attached to
the Centre resigned, and the Committee, finding it possible to make arrangements with local
midwives who had established themselves in South Kensington to attend confinements of working
class mothers, decided not to continue the employment of a midwife on their staff. Several
midwives are now carrying out the work formerly dealt with by the Earl's Court Centre midwife
and are working harmoniously with the staff at the Centre.
