RAG FLOCK AND OTHER FILLING MATERIALS ACT, 1951
Under this Act it is unlawful in the course of business to use filling materials
to which the Act applies in any form of upholstery, the stuffing or lining of toys, baby
carriages, etc., except on premises registered by a local authority (in London, a
Metropolitan Borough). It is also an offence to sell or expose for sale on any premises
any article containing filling material to which the Act applies, which is unclean.
The standards of cleanliness for the various types of filling material are laid down
in the Rag Flock and Other Filling Materials Regulations. 1951-1954, superseded on the
1st August by the Rag Flock and Other Filling Materials Regulations, 1961.
At the beginning of the year there were seven premises registered for the use of
filling materials. During the year one firm vacated their premises leaving six
registered premises at the end of 1961.
