In addition to the x-ray examinations carried out at The Western Hospital, the
mobile unit visited four firms as a result of which a further 1,290 x-ray examinations
were made.
All firms in Fulham have been asked to encourage their male employees to use the
six-monthly chest x-ray service for men over 45. This was started in South London in
December, in an attempt to afford some protection against the hazards of lung cancer
which is causing an increasing number of deaths, particularly in that age group.
