The social side of the Health Visitors' work is not always fully appreciated. The Health
Visitors and Medical Officers of the Department have often the opportunity of obtaining work for
mothers requiring it, and sometimes for the fathers also. They collect, too, from, and with the help
of their friends, innumerable articles of clothing and toys, for men, women and children. This work
has been carried on unobtrusively as long as the Department has been in existence For several years
an annual concert for the mothers attending the clinics has been arranged at the Town Hall.
Reference has been made in previous Reports to the wide extent of the training and experience
of the Health Visitors on the staff, so that there is a wide knowledge of nursing available for the
families of Fulham in their Health Visiting staff.
In addition to their work in the homes, the Health Visitors systematically attend at the various
centres during the medical sessions for the control and management of the clinics.
The increasing number of clinic sessions which must be staffed by Health Visitors has a diminishing
effect upon the number of visits possible.

The following illustrates the scope of the Health Visitors' work :—
