BABIES' HOSPITAL.
The Fulham Babies' Hospital is under the control of a Voluntary Committee on which
the Borough Council is represented. The type of case in which the hospital is mainly
interested is that in which there are nutritional difficulties, but rickets, pneumonia,
bronchitis, anaemia and certain post-operative conditions are also treated. The hospital is
an invaluable adjunct to the child welfare services at whose request the majority of the
children are admitted, and has been an important factor in reducing infant mortality. The
medical staff is provided from the medical officers of the Borough Council. The appointment
of a consultant pædriatrician was discussed towards the end of the year, but final arrangements
were not completed.
