At three separate meetings of the Public Health and Baths
Committee during the year consideration was given to complaints of the
ever increasing pigeon nuisance, and on each occasion it was decided
that no direct action should be taken by the Council.
DISINFECTION AND DISINFESTATION
The Disinfecting Station is situated at 9A, Lots Road, but the
duties of the personnel extend beyond this limited field. The two
disinfectors and the two vehicles were used for various duties in
connection with the testing of drains and conveying equipment to and from
the sites, assisting with food sampling and delivering samples to the
Bacteriological, Chemical and Pathological Laboratories. They also
undertook the collection and removal of the effects of deceased persons
under Section 50 of the National Assistance Act, 1948, the collection
and delivery of the laundry of incontinent persons, and the collection
and destruction of verminous bedding and furniture, etc.
The new arrangement with the Royal Borough of Kensington regarding
personal cleansing facilities for Chelsea residents came into operation
on the 1st January, since when all cases have been treated at the
Disinfecting Station and Medicinal Baths, Silchester Road, W.10.
