BACTERIOLOGICAL EXAMINATION OF FOOD
The bacteriological examination of samples was carried out by
the Public Health Laboratory Service at County Hall.
No charge was made to the Council for this service and during the
year the following samples were submitted for examination:-
Water 28
Ice Cream 36
Red Salmon 8
Total 72
All were reported upon as satisfactory.

THE MILK (SPECIAL DESIGNATION) REGULATIONS, 1963 The following table shows the number of dealers' licences in force at the 31st December, 1964:-

Sale of tuberculin tested milk55
Sale of pasteurised milk64
Sale of sterilised milk42
The expiry date of all licences is 31st December, 1965.

THE MILK AND DAIRIES (GENERAL) REGULATIONS, 1959
At the end of the year there were 56 registered distributors
with premises in the Borough and 67 premises within the Borough from
which milk is distributed.
ANALYSIS OF MILK
During the year 97 samples of milk were submitted for examination
to the Public Analyst Whose report appears on pages 51 to 56.
STREET TRADING
All traders are licensed annually to operate from designated
sites in accordance with the provisions of Part II of the London County
Council (General Powers) Act, 1947, and renewal applications are granted
provided the applicant has fully observed the requirements of the licence
throughout the previous period. New applicants concerned with the
retailing of food have to submit their vehicles for examination and, in
addition, particular attention is given to the suitability of storage
accommodation and the hygienic condition of equipment. In many cases
