ZYMOTIC DISEASES
During the year, no deaths occurred which were considered by the
Registrar-General to be attributable to causes which came under this
heading.
Currently, diseases such as cholera, diarrhoea, diphtheria., measles,
scarlet fever, smallpox, typhoid fever and typhus fever are considered
to be zymotic in origin, having occurred by reason of the multiplication
of germs from without.
It is interesting to note how sharply the number of deaths has fallen during this century:
Year | Number of deaths from Zymotic causes. |
---|---|
1900 | 219 |
1905 | 98 |
1910 | 66 |
1915 | 76 |
1920 | 41 |
1925 | 29 |
1930 | 22 |
1935 | 17 |
1940 | 1 |
1945 | 6 |
1950 | 3 |
1955 | 6 |
