PUBLIC MORTUARY FACILITIES
No mortuary premises have been maintained in the Borough for
some years. Under an agreement with Hammersmith Borough Council,
excellent facilities are readily available at their Mortuary in
Fulham Palace Road, W.6. During the year, one hundred and fiftynine
Post-Mortems without Inquests, and forty-one Post-Mortems with
Inquests were performed in respect of Chelsea residents.
MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS
During 1956, sixty-nine persons were examined to ascertain
whether they were fit to be admitted to this authority's employment
and to participate in the superannuation scheme. Only one was
found not to be in a satisfactory state of health. In addition,
three examinations were undertaken on behalf of other local
authorities as a result of the transfer of employees.
MASS RADIOGRAPHY
The detection of unsuspected Tuberculosis of the lungs, at the
earliest possible stage, may well result in the avoidance of a
lengthy illness as a result of immediate treatment. To this end
X-ray facilities are readily available to Chelsea residents at the
following Centres:-
