NOTIFICATION OF BIRTHS. The total number of notified Chelsea births,
including stillbirths, from all sources was 318. Of this number,
95 were notified by midwives.
CLASSIFICATION OF DEATHS. The causes of deaths (851) were as
follows:- Typhoid and Paratyphoid Fevers o, Cerebro-spinal fever 1,
Scarlet fever 0, Whooping Cough o, Diphtheria 0, Tuberculosis of
respiratory system 37, other forms of Tuberculosis 6, Syphilitic
Diseases 5? Influenza 12, Measles 0, Ac. Poliomyelitis and Ac. PolioEncephalitis
0, Ac. Inf. Encephalitis 2, Cancer of Buc. Cav. and
Oesoph. (M) Uterus (F) 15, Cancer Stomach and Duodenum 19, Cancer

INFANT MORTALITY. There were 15 deaths of infants under one year
of age. The causes of death were as follows:- Influenza 1,
Bronchitis 1, Pneumonia 3, Diarrhoea 1, Premature births 3? Congenital
Malformations etc. 4, and other violent causes 2.
