The death rate from all forms of Tuberculosis in Chelsea was 1-1
per 1,000. Of the total number of deaths (43) from all forms of Tuberculosis,
15 died non-notified or to notification* The ratio of nonnotified
tuberculosis deaths to total tuberculosis deaths was therefore
as 1 is to 3. The corresponding ratio for 1939 was 1 : 3. Making
allowance for difficult and doubtful cases in which a diagnosis cannot
be established until after death, the notification of tuberculosis is carried
out fairly efficiently in the Borough.
Cases of Tuberculosis in the Borough.—The Public Health (Tuberculosis)
Regulations, 1930, provide that the Medical Officer of Health
shall furnish to the County Medical Officer, as soon as practicable after
the end of each quarter, a statement compiled from the register of notifications
showing:—
(a) The number of cases of Tuberculosis on the Register at the
commencement of the Quarter ;
(b.) The number of cases notified under the Regulations for the
first time during the Quarter ;
(c.) The number of cases removed from the Register during a
preceding Quarter which have been restored to the Register during
the Quarter, giving the name and address of each such case and
the reasons for the restoration ;
(d.) The number of cases added to the Register during the Quarter
whichshave been brought to notice otherwise than by notification
under the Regulations;
(e.) The number of cases removed from the Register during the
