BIRTHS.
During the year 941 births were registered in Chelsea. Of these,
births of non-parishioners account for 542. In addition, there were
226 births amongst Chelsea mothers in Lying-in Hospitals and elsewhere
outside the Borough. The total number of Chelsea Births for
the year was therefore 625, equivalent to an annual birth-rate of 10.6
per 1,000 of population.
The birth-rate for England and Wales in 1933 was 14.4, while that
for London as a whole was 13.2.
