BIRTHS.
During the year 1,098 births were registered in Chelsea. Of these,
births of non-parishioners account for 452. In addition, there were
158 births amongst Chelsea mothers in Lying-in Hospitals and elsewhere
outside the Borough. The total number of Chelsea Births for
the year was therefore 799, equivalent to an annual birth-rate of 12.7
per 1,000 of population.
The birth-rate for England and Wales in 1930 was 16.3, while that
for London as a whole was 15.7.
