No specimens of blood were examined during the year for the Widal
reaction.
PNEUMONIA, MALARIA AND DYSENTERY.
These diseases are compulsorily notifiable under the Public Health
(Pneumonia, Malaria, Dysentery, etc.) Regulations, 1919.
During the year the fol'owing numbers of cases were notified :—

Pneumonia.—All primary pneumonias, lobar or lobular, are notifi"
able. The only secondary pneumonia which is notifiable is influenzal
pneumonia.
The notifications and deaths from pneumonia during the past two
years were as follows :—

Nursing Provision.—By arrangement with the Chelsea District
Nursing Association, all cases of Pneumonia receive adequate nursing
attention where the circumstances render this necessary.
Malaria.—The Regulations provide that the Medical Officer
Health shall take all practical steps to ensure that persons suffering
from malaria are supplied with sufficient mosquito netting ; receive
adequate quinine treatment during the attack and subsequently ; and
receive appropriate advice as to precautions necessary to prevent the
spread of the disease.
Four cases of Malaria were notified during the 'year.
PUERPERAL FEVER AND PUERPERAL PYREXIA.
Two cases of Puerperal Fever and 5 cases of Puerperal Pyrexia were
notified during the year. Of these, 6 were treated in hospital.
