It will be observed that there was a slight decrease in the number of
cases notified in 1929. The percentage of removals to the M.A.B.
Hospitals was high, while the case mortality rate was somewhat lower
than that for 1928.
Information was received from the M.A.B. that 16 of the cases sent
to Hospital in the course of the year proved not to be suffering from
diphtheria.
Of the 148 cases notified, 53 occurred in Stanley Ward, 40 in Church
Ward, 29 in Cheyne Ward, 11 in Hans Town Ward, and 15 in Royal
Hospital Ward.
The following table shows the average annual case rate, case mortality
rate, and percentage of cases removed to hospital in each of the quinquennial
periods since 1911.
