Causes of Death.—As in former years, deaths from diseases
due to Tubercle (phthisis, scrofula, &c.), and from other diseases
affecting the Respiratory System occupy a prominent place.
The Tubercular rate, however, shows some improvement over
that of the preceding year; but the Respiratory rate is a little
worse, due, doubtless, to the Influenza which appeared at the
close of the year; 10 deaths attributable directly to this cause
are included under " other causes," in the next Table.
