Phthisis and Diseases of the Respiratory Organs.
There were 27 deaths of persons belonging to this
District caused by phthisis, or an annual rate of 2.43 per
1,000 inhabitants; the corresponding rate for London was
1.82 per 1,000. There were also 8 deaths due to other
forms of tuberculosis.
69 deaths were caused by other diseases of the respiratory
organs, namely, pneumonia, bronchitis and pleurisy.
Influenza was the registered cause of 12 deaths. In
London the number was 1,817, which is the highest recorded
since 1895.
