PUERPERAL FEVER.
During 1899 in Lambeth 12 deaths were registered from
Puerperal Fever (a disease of child-bed), as compared with
4 during 1898, and an annual average of 12.6 during the
last 10 years (1889—98).
24 cases were notified, as compared with 14 during 1898,
and an annual average of 18.3 for the 9 years 1890-98.
The case mortality for 1899 is 50 %.
In London, during 1899, there were registered 209 deaths out of a total of 329 cases notified, giving a case mortality of 62.9% (uncorrected).
