The Refuge provided at the Wharf has only been used
once during the year—a family consisting of a mother and
6 children under 12 years of age, and coming from an
erysipelas-infected house (8, Surrey Lodge) being accommodated

inviting as possible, for those poorer ratepayers who may
have to use them. The provision of these Refuges is
rendered compulsory by sect. 60 of the Public Health
(London) Act, 1891,
