ERYSIPELAS. During 1898 in Lambeth 12 deaths were registered from Erysipelas, as compared with 16 for 1897, and an annual average of 18'0 during the last 10 years (1888—1897). 294 cases were notified, giving a case mortality of 41°/0. In London, during 1898, there were registered 165 deaths out of a total of 5,180 cases notified, giving a case mortality of 3-2 °/0 (uncorrected).

The advantages from the notification of Erysipelas are
few, and the majority of cases notified as Erysipelas are
not such as were contemplated by the framers of the
Notification Act.
