on the routine Sanitary work of the Parish, which has
been materially increased since the new drainage work has
been transferred to the Medical Officer's, from the Surveyor's,
Department. Several Authorities have already
appointed female Sanitary Inspectors, and speak well of
the work carried out by them, their salaries ranging from
£80 to £100 (rising to £150), and the Lambeth Vestry
would be wise to follow their examples.
The good to be derived from the temporary or permanent
appointment of an extra male Inspector to carry out the
Bye-laws as to houses let in lodgings, or occupied by members
of more than one family, in connection with the
Inner Districts, will be acknowledged by all who have had
experience of the conditions of life under which the inhabitants
live in those particular Wards of the Parish.
