DEATHS.
The deaths registered during the year numbered 4,090, while the death-rate
was equal to 12.0 per 1,000 of the population, or 0.3 below that of the preceding
year (12.3), and was the lowest since 1923, when it was 11.6 per 1,000 inhabitants.
The death-rate was also 2.1 less than the average of the previous ten years.
