VACCINATION.
Of the 8,698 births registered in 1920, the returns of vaccination show that only 4,070
infants were successfully vaccinated, while 21 were found to be insusceptible. There were
also 437 who died unvaccinated, and 2,866 statutory declarations of conscientious objection
to vaccination were obtained by the parents or guardians; 19 vaccinations were postponed
under medical authority, thus leaving 1,285 unaccounted for. The return of certificates
of exemption, therefore, represents 329 per cent. of the registered births.
