Illegitimate Births (205)—The number of illegitimate births, 205, shows a
decrease of 51 on the return of the year 1920. They were equal to a rate of 2.60 per
1,000 registered births.

The number of illegitimate births in the Borough since 1851 is shown in the following statement:

Notification of Births Act, 1907.—6,467 births were notified or 82 per cent, of the total number that was registered during the year. They were notified by doctors, midwives, parents and guardians as follows:

DEATHS.
The deaths numbered 4,368, while the death-rate was equal to 13'12 per 1,000 of the
population, or 0 20 lower than that of the preceding year (13 32), and was 2 44 less than
the average of the previous 10 years.
The death-rate of 1312 per 1,000 oj the population was the lowest rate hitherto recorded,
in the Borough.

Appendix.
