When the Advisory Committee first commenced their activities they found it difficult to
compare the work of the various Infant Welfare Centres owing to the varying methods of keeping
records. Consequently the preparation of a complete system of record keeping, with a view to
securing uniformity, received attention. The system eventually decided upon is now in use at all
the Kensington Centres, with the result that records are capable of comparison. The system,
when first introduced, was approved by the Minister of Health and it is satisfactory to note that
his Department have adopted for their own statistical forms many of the proposals of the Advisory
Committee.
One interesting observation on the above table is the number of children seen at each doctor's
consultation. It is generally recognised that a doctor cannot satisfactorily deal with more than
26 to 30 children at one session and it will be seen in item No. 11 that the numbers dealt with
varied from 23 to 33.
