Workshop Act, 1901. The object of this supervision is to prevent
home work being done in insanitary dwellings, or in premises where
there is dangerous infectious disease. Every occupier of a factory,
workshop, or place from which home work is given out, and contractors
employed by them, are required to keep lists showing the names and
addresses of their home workers. The occupiers are required to send to
the local authority on or before 1st February and 1st August in each
year copies of such lists. Upon receipt of these lists, the names and
addresses of home workers residing in the districts of other sanitary
authorities are forwarded to the Medical Officers of Health concerned.
