Milk and Cream Regulations, 1912 and 1917.—Seventyfive
samples of milk were taken during the year, of which
eight were adulterated or below the standard fixed by the
Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. In no case, however, was
the presence of a preservative reported upon by the Public
Analyst.

The following table shows the average composition of milk examined by the Analyst during the year:—

One sample of preserved cream was taken, which was
reported as genuine. The amount of milk fat was 53.2 per cent.
and preservative (Boric Acid), 0.33 per cent. Ihe requirements
as to labelling or declaration were duly observed.
Milk and Dairies Order, 1926.—This Order, with the
exception of certain provisions, came into operation on the 1st
October, 1926, and revokes the Dairies, Cowsheds and Milkshops
Orders of 1885, 1886 and 1889, so far as they relate to England
and Wales, and all Regulations made thereunder by Local
Authorities.
The general object of the Order is to ensure Milk being
produced and delivered to the consumer in a clean and pure
state.
