SECTION 7.
Maternity and Child Welfare
In my Annual Report for 1925 I dealt fully with the
various activities under the Council's Maternity and Child
Welfare Scheme. These have been conducted on similar lines
as heretofore.
Infant Welfare Consultations.—Consultations are held
at two Centres on each afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m., as. follows: —
Borough Hall, Royal Hill... Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
Conduit House, 236, Trafalgar
Road Monday, Wednesday and Friday
105, Shooters Hill Road Tuesday and Friday
Albany Institute, Creek Road Thursday
Charlton Vale Wesleyan School
Room, Woolwich Road Wednesday
The following table shows at a glance the work under-taken at the various Infant Consultation Centres during the year:—
Borough Hall | Conduit House | 105. Shooter's Hill Rd | Albany Institute | Charlton Vale | Total | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Attendances | 9,068 | 10,009 | 4,496 | 2,269 | 3,712 | 29,554 |
New Cases | 387 | 430 | 215 | 151 | 176 | 1,359 |
Medical Consultations | 3,796 | 3,831 | 1,829 | 1,138 | 1,306 | 11,900 |
Nursing Mothers seen by Doctors | 1,276 | 1,367 | 796 | 381 | 468 | 4,288 |
All babies are weighed and advice given to the mothers
at every attendance.
The continued popularity of the Centres is borne out by
the steady increase in the number of attendances. During the
last 5 years these have increased by over 7,000, as shown below:
1922 22,218
1923 24,261
1924 26,068
1925 28,584
1926 29,554
