It will be observed there has been a large decrease in the Milk
sales, with a corresponding increase in the quantity of milk distributed
free. This is to a large extent due to increased unemployment
in the district.
MATERNITY AND CHILD WELFARE CENTRE.
Dental Treatment. 1925.
The number of patients referred for dental treatment remains
about the same. The age of these patients is greater than that
of the patients referred by the Tuberculosis Officer and thus Periodontal
Disease is usually well marked; in such cases extractions
are clearly indicated. This is regrettable, as such an unhealthy
condition of the mouth is the result of neglect on the part of the
patient.
Gum treatment has also been adopted, but here again the results
have been only fair, and in some cases disappointing owing to the
lack of enthusiasm on the part of the patients, who forget that they
are expected to carry out such daily treatment as is directed bv the
Dentist.
