1 st Quarter—East Greenwich, 96 cases; West Greenwich, 16; St.
Nicholas, 10; Charlton, 16; Kidbrooke, 10; a
total of 148 cases.
2nd Quarter—East Greenwich, 35 cases; West Greenwich, 8; St.
Nicholas, 5; Charlton, 12; Kidbrooke, 7; a total of
67 cases.
3rd Quarter—East Greenwich, 64 cases; West Greenwich, 20; St.
Nicholas, 6; Charlton, 3; Kidbrooke, 3; a total
of 96 cases.
4th Quarter—East Greenwich, 137 cases; West Greenwich, 110; St.
Nicholas, 3; Charlton, 25; Kidbrooke, 9; a total
of 284 cases.
Membranous Croup.—There was one case of Membranous
Croup notified during the year, such case occurring in St. Nicholas.
Erysipelas.—Fifty-seven cases were notified during the year,
30 being in East Greenwich, 14 in West Greenwich, 7 in St.
Nicholas, 6 in Charlton. Fourteen of these patients were removed
to a Public Institution in the district.
Scarlet Fever.—Nine hundred and fifty-eight cases were notified
during the year, as compared with 167, 481 and 587 cases
respectively in the years 1918, 1919 and 1920; 424 cases were
in East Greenwich, 194 in West Greenwich, 44 in St. Nicholas,
163 in Charlton and 33 in Kidbrooke; 888 of these cases were
removed to the Hospital for treatment. There were three deaths
from this disease during the year as against 7 last year.
Eleven of the cases removed to Hospital were discharged and
notified to be still suffering from Chronic Rhinitis, 4; Chronic
Ottorhoea, 7; Total, 11.
Mention has already been made of the epidemic of Diphtheria
at the Royal Hospital iSchools. Contemporaneous with this outbreak
was also an epidemic of Scarlet Fever, a total of 122 cases
being notified. The same remarks with regard to the supervision,
disinfection, etc., apply as are mentioned in connection with the
Diphtheria outbreak.
The following table gives particulars of the seven cases which
would seem to be "return cases." There were 6 such cases in
1920, 6 in 1919, 2 in 1918 and 0 in 1917.
