during the year for certificates under these Acts with respect
to 20 Tenements. One certificate only was granted with reference
to 4 Tenements.
Cleansing and Scavenging.—The question of refuse disposal
has been engaging the serious attention of the Council for some
time past. The refuse continues to be disposed of by barging, and
dumping on the low.lying marsh land in the Borough, but these
dumps are now practically filled up, and are becoming a serious
menace (o health. Complaints have always arisen from the results
of this method of refuse disposal, and a scheme has now been
submitted and approved by the Council for the erection of an
up.to.date refuse destructor at the Council's Wharf, Tunnel Avenue.
