Registrar-General, there is a table giving the annual
mortality from diphtheria in each of the Metropolitan
Sanitary Areas for each of the past ten years. The
following figures have been extracted therefrom:—

The maximum rate for last year was that of
Willesden (0'65), that of Fulham (0.49) being next,
and that of Paddington (0.48) third. The rate of
St. George, Hanover Square (0.12) was the lowest,
with that of Kensington (0.15) next. The year of
