Bakehouses. There are 26 bakehouses in the Borough and 33 inspections
of these premises were made during the year. Eight notices were
served for the cleansing of walls and ceilings.
Slaughter-houses. There are now two private slaughter-houses in the
Borough and 133 inspections of these premises were made during 1926.
In compliance with the byelaws prescribing humane slaughtering,
approved methods of slaughter are employed in each of the premises.
There is no public abattoir in the Borough.

The following table shows, in the form required by the Ministry of Health, the number of private slaughter-houses in use in the Borough on the dates indicated:— TABLE No. 24.

Inspection of Other Premises where Food is Prepared or Offered for
Sale. The Inspectors keep under frequent observation all other premises
where food is prepared for or exposed for sale. Included in this category
are restaurants and premises used by provision dealers, butchers, fishmongers
and greengrocers for the purposes of their trades.
